TEHRAN The rapporteur of the parliamentary Article 90 Commission, Mohammad Dadfar, on Monday said that the existing laws ensure judicial immunity for the Majlis deputies, and that there is no need to enact a new law in this regard.

Dadfar added that bringing up this issue in the Majlis may imply that the recent detention of an MP by the Judiciary has been a lawful act.

"There is no doubt about the fact that the Majlis deputies enjoy judicial immunity in their capacity as the people's representatives," he added.

In another development, the Deputy Interior Minister Mostafa Tajzadeh has lodged complaints with Majlis Article 90 Commission against the State Inspectorate Organization (SIO) and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).

The Chairman of Majlis Article 90 Commission Hossein Ansari-Rad here on Monday told reporters that Tajzadeh's complaint against SIO is related to Khorramabad incident and his complaint against the IRIB is in connection with the way the IRIB covered the Sixth Majlis elections.

A police officer was killed and several people were injured in last summer's Khorramabad unrest. Later, the SIO published a report on the incident in which it accused Tajzadeh of having a role in the unrest.

Ansari-Rad said the legal aspects of Tajzadeh's complaint would be investigated by his commission, which is responsible for receiving and investigating public complaints against the government organs.
